Apple Awards Producer Kylee Boggs stated: “We are so thankful to the great community support to help facilitate this endeavor, and are always humbled by the impact it immediately makes in so many young lives. Walking among the attendees afterward, it’s difficult to put into words. I’m struck by the graduates of this program, who came back to support old friends and past programs and the proud administrators and parents who’ve spent countless hours with these individuals, who know how hard they’ve worked. It’s an honor to witness the new relationships that were formed in 1 day, by surviving learning a new song or choreographed routine, by setting up a show in a day, by ruefully sharing behind-the-scenes stories from their own productions. I have had multiple parents pull me aside throughout the day to just thank the Numerica PAC for hosting the Apple Awards each season and tell me story after story about how it’s helped their young adults’ lives. The impact this program has goes beyond one spectacular event, in ways seen and unseen, and I’m so glad to be a part.”
The Apple Awards is a community celebration of theatre and performing arts in our region. The Apple Awards mission is to recognize unique talents within our communities, promote the arts to a broader audience, increase the depth of appreciation to existing audiences, and encourage the continued development of exceptional performers.
Each show was assessed by a group of volunteer evaluators known as “The Apple Academy,” who have been selected to participate based on their experience and understanding of the performing arts. The evaluation criteria places value on creativity and achievement, taking into account unique resources and production challenges; spectacle or production value will not be emphasized.
