The Numerica Performing Arts Center has announced its line-up for the spring Black Box Concert series.
The first concert is scheduled for February 21 and features Datura, The Nightmares and 23rd Street.
Datura formed in 2018 in Wenatchee, Washington, carving out an identity that draws deeply from goth-rock and post-punk luminaries, including The Chameleons, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, early Dead Can Dance, and Depeche Mode. Initially self-releasing two EPs, Datura signed with Sell the Heart Records (Berkeley, California) in 2021 and released their debut full-length album in 2022, Arcano Chemical, which received critical praise for its melancholic catchiness and haunting atmosphere.
The Nightmares specialize in simplistic hooks, catchy melodies and hard grooves, and have shared bills with the likes of Off With Their Heads, Ten Foot Pole, Swingin’ Utters, The Toasters, The Schizophonics – and almost every small town punk band that’s come through Wenatchee over the last 9 years!
The second show in the series features Pop Punk Party on March 21. Pop Punk Party is a high-energy tribute experience dedicated to the golden age of the TRL era. This isn’t just a concert, it’s a time machine back to the decade of Warped Tour, skate culture, and the songs that defined a generation. From the mall-punk hooks of the early 2000s to the “emo” explosion of the mid-2000s, we are playing the soundtrack of your high school years and featuring an all-star lineup of musicians hailing from the Pacific Northwest.
On April 11 Seattle-based rock back Is This Real?led by legendary musician Matt Cameron, known for his work with Soundgarden and Pearl Jam will perform. Originally conceived as a tribute project to the influential Portland punk band the Wipers, the group has since evolved into a vehicle for Cameron’s original songwriting and front-man presence.
