June 6, 2019 – Wenatchee, WA: On June 5 at 7:00pm, the Numerica Performing Arts Center announced the winners of the first annual APPLE AWARDS, a ceremony to honor the achievements of local, participating high school students and programs that have demonstrated excellence or innovation in theatre, sponsored by Davis Arneil Law Firm.

Each participant was assessed by a group of volunteer evaluators known as “The Apple Academy,” who have been selected to participate based on their experience and understanding of the performing arts. The evaluation criteria places value on creativity and achievement, taking into account unique resources and production challenges. The nominees and award recipients were not determined by any members of the Numerica Performing Arts Center staff or board of directors.
Additionally, each school’s director(s) had the opportunity to honor two individuals of their choice with a DIRECTOR’S AWARD:
- Sarah Pinneo and Kelsea Turner, Cascade High School
- Ani Hartwich and Korbyn Smith, Cashmere High School
- Isaiah De Los Santos and Sydney Ferari-Zimmerman, Eastmont High School
- Sylvia Hwang and Casia Logan, Wenatchee High School
Rounding out the evening, Numerica Credit Union presented the first Numerica Theatre Scholarship, a $1000 scholarship for a high school senior who has been positively impacted by their involvement in theatre arts. Sarah Bersch from Wenatchee High School, was recognized as the 2019 scholarship recipient. She will be attending Central Washington University in the fall.
The mission of the Apple Awards is to recognize unique talents within our communities, promote the arts to a broader audience, increase the depth of appreciation to existing audiences, and encourage the continued development of exceptional performers.
The Numerica Performing Arts Center at the Stanley Civic Center is a non-profit organization and naming partner with Numerica Credit Union.
