For 10 hard-luck Texans, a new lease on life is so close they can touch it. Under a scorching sun for days on end, armed with nothing but hope, humor and ambition, they’ll fight to keep at least one hand on a brand-new truck in order to win it. In the hilarious, hard-fought contest that is Hands on a Hardbody, only one winner can drive away with the American Dream. Inspired by the true events of the acclaimed 1997 documentary of the same name by S.R. Bindler, produced by Kevin Morris and Bindler.
Director Jaime Donegan says, “It is our pleasure to present the Broadway show Hands on a Hardbody – a show where the pursuit of the American Dream and the worst and best of the human spirit collide creating ‘a human drama kind of thing’. It is an American journey down the emotional road of ‘tears of joy and tears of sorrow’. This mixture of talented local performers and talented guest artists will take on the challenge of creating ‘real’ characters that are relatable, as we all hop in the back of the Nissan hardbody truck and take the journey with them.”
Don Fox Designs LLC and Jaime Donegan Productions will produce 12 Hot August Nights performances on the Numerica PAC stage, August 1-17. Tickets will go on sale May 1 for Numerica PAC members and June 3 for the public.
