On September 15 the Numerica Performing Arts Center will be unveiling the Wilfred R. Woods Stage to commemorate the legacy of Wilfred Woods. The dedication will include a ribbon cutting on the Wilfred R. Woods Stage at 7:30pm, just before the 2017-2018 Numerica PAC season kick-off show, M-PACT.

The stage dedication was announced following Wilfred Woods’ passing at his Celebration of Life on March 12, by Numerica PAC Board President, Colleen Frei. “Wilf and his family are committed to the arts and they bring the community together. By honoring Wilf and his legacy, honoring the family and everything they have given to our community, we hope his legacy will continue as more and more performances occur right here on our stage – bringing the community and our region together just as Wilf has.”

In the early 1990s, Wilf served on a task force formed by Allied Arts to establish a need and means to creating a local performing arts center which would later become the Supporters of the Center (dba Numerica Performing Arts Center). “As a lifetime instigator for the arts, Wilf was a perfect poster boy for this project,” said community member Jane Hensel. “Without Wilf’s determination, experience, and wisdom I do question if [the theatre] could have been built.”

Wilfred and Kathy Woods also established an endowment for the Numerica Performing Arts Center in 2013, which has since raised $188,000 towards a sustainable future for the Supporters of the Center.
