A recently deceased couple, Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam (Alec Baldwin), become frustrated when their New England home is invaded by the obnoxious Deetzes (Catherine O'Hara, Jeffrey Jones). Unable to scare them away, they enlist the help of the mischievous bio-exorcist Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) whose chaotic methods turn things upside down. Meanwhile, Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder), the gothic teenager who can see Barbara and Adam, forms an unlikely alliance with the ghostly couple as they try to maintain some semblance of peace in their own afterlife.
